brand2brand Combat DOSE #8 Circuit City vs. Best Buy
You voted, and while it was a little closer than past combats, Best Buy beat Circuit City in service, price, and just overall attitude.
Thanks to all who voted and stay tuned for a very special edition of brand2brand combat in DOSE #9

-=Best Buy=-
Sorry Thomas. It’s a matter of I always check Best Buy first, then Circut City only if Best Buy doesn’t have it. :)
Can I vote for both? If not then I guess Best Buy.
When you both asked me to be a guest on your podcast about this topic – my initial reponse was that retail electronics was NOT my forte! I still believe that, but I have a new found interest in both. Today I went to Circuit City 1st to price a certain item for a Christmas present for a certain someone (wink wink nudge nudge). The price of said item was $19.99. I knew I could get it cheaper…. then I went to Best Buy and purchased it for $14.99!! I told the clerk that they had a way better price than Circuit City and he said even if the other store had the better price they would match it. SOOOO My vote is for Best Buy – purely on price, but the layout of Circuit City was better – more organized and much easier to find things.
My vote goes to Best Buy by default. I do like the layout and organization of the local Circuit City, but the folks at Best Buy seem to be more knowledgable about their products. During the holiday shopping season last year, I overheard a customer ask a CC salesperson the difference between the HP-branded iPod versus the normal iPod. The salesperson replied “Oh, the HP is for windows computers and the other one is for Macs”. At that point I lost all respect for the employees at CC. I actually think it’s funny you mentioned the iPod section on their website….maybe they should send their salespeople through an iPod tutorial???
I have a draw! I like Best Buy more, but the biggest purchase I made this year was a flat panel TV at Circuit City b/c they had a much better price. Give me a vote for each…
I’ve got to vote for Best Buy simply because I just don’t shop Circuit City anymore. Well not since I was looking at an iBook there many years ago only to have the sales guy tell me they were crap and I should buy a PC instead.
But even with personal dislike of Circuit City aside I’m still voting for Best Buy. When I think of Best Buy two things immediately pop in my mind… stores that are wide open and arranged nicely… and that big yellow price sticker logo. When I think of Circuit City I cannot quickly think of something that jumps out.
