Geek Dinner Update
Mark your calendars for the next Geek Dinner, which will be on January 31st at 7pm at the Pacific Grill in Kingsport, TN. Listener Mail:
- Ryan at 800CEORead thanked us for featuring inBubbleWrap and ChangeThis as websites of the week, and said that “lockjaw radio takes a business-centric show and brings it down to earth.” Thanks!
- Tac Anderson sent us some great thoughts on monetizing new media, and suggests that we pursue a sponsorship deal. Check out his blog for a good read.
- Brad Eshbach voted for Boulder and sent us a link to our ad of the week.
- Howard Walker voted for both towns (how can you decide?) and notes that both towns have a counter culture that is trust fund driven. He suggests that we try homeroasting coffee vs. Starbucks AND sends us our next brand2brand combat idea that is sure to stir up some response: Ford vs. Chevy
- Doug Chalfant from E! Entertainment Television voted for Boulder and suggested a cable network version of brand2brand combat. Excellent….
- Justin Farrey picked Boulder, based on state income tax rates and sent a link to income tax info
- Ben Swihart voted for Boulder in a hilarious rant, and says: “As a thirty-something with a five year old, I declare We Are Not Old Yet”.
- Jeff Rainey said “I am going to have to go with Boulder for a couple reasons. First, Asheville is basically a Boulder wanna be. Also, Boulder has more resources to draw people than Asheville does. In Boulder the outdoors are bigger, the arts are better and they have immediate access to Denver.”
brand2brand combat: Each week, we’ll compare two brands in a no holds barred, head to head death match. We’ll look at how they excel or fail in listening and responding to their customers.
In this week’s brand2brand combat:
We compare two stalwart, old, but time-tested remedies: Alka Seltzer vs. Pepto-Bismol.
Listen in and then cast your vote in the brand2brand Combat Tally post.
Ad of the Week
Honda Civic Choir Ad. Created by London based Wieden + Kennedy, it’s an amazing 2 minute drive in the Honda Civic, with all sounds voiced by a 60 piece choral group, and shot in Spain and England. Adding to the coolness is a making of video. The campaign features a minisite which is equally excellent.
Website of the Week:
Excellent, simple and engaging website by and for Periscope, a Minneapolis, MN based firm with an impressive client list and body of work. Great site and concept!
