Results of last week’s brand2brand combat:
Pepto Bismol neutralized Alka Seltzer by a large margin, proving once again that plop plop outweighs fizz fizz.

Geek Dinner Update
The 2nd Geek Dinner, which was held on January 31st in Kingsport, TN was a rousing success. Over 40 people attended to hear the latest from CES and MacWorld. Check out the Geek South website for more info. Thanks to Stormhoek Wine and Hugh Macleod for the great vino!

Listener Mail:

  • Brad Eshbach writes “this place always has some great ads that i have never seen. they also almost always include the agency responsible: frederiksamuel.com
  • Doug Chalfant from E! Entertainment Television said “Hey Guys. Really enjoyed dose 13. My vote is for Pepto-Bismol. I think of Alka-Seltzer as cold remedy where Pepto is more of a cure all for stomach relief. Although Alka-Seltzer has done a good job of extending its brand… Pepto has a more distinct ad campaign and I believe a stronger overall brand image. Ford versus Chevy – can’t wait.” Thanks Doug!
  • Joe Castillo comments: “Hey! You need a clear button to vote. I didn’t know where to vote for AlkaSelzer. But hey guys fizz fizz will always winout over gurgle glub.”
  • Jeremy Hague, founder of WaxMail writes to us about a great new Skype plugin for Outlook called SkyLook. Check it out – good stuff!
  • Ryan at 800 CEO Read sends along an email from “Persuasion” author Dave Lakhani with some kind words about our response to InBubbleWrap.
  • John Fox author of the Marketing Playbook, says our tag line should be: “New Media Edge for Smart Marketers”. Yep.
  • The mysterious “mktg_chick” says “Sorry but ever since Pepto came out with this latest campaign, I’ve lost all respect for them. It looks like the staff from Big Lots dancing a crude version of the Macarena. I’ll sing “Oh what a relief it is!” when that TV campaign is over.”
